1:1 Coaching

More clarity. Less burnout. Yes, really. Our coaching helps people in tech and design gain the confidence they need to build a sustainable, successful career—on their own terms.

Two ways to work with us

90-minute strategy sessions

Get clarity on your most pressing challenges in a single deep-dive session.

Each strategy session includes a detailed workbook to reflect on your topic and get prepared. Then we’ll meet for a 90-minute coaching session that leaves you feeling energized and ready to move forward with intention. We currently offer three types of strategy session:

  • Career redesign: If you want to focus a job search, break out of career dissatisfaction, or explore new paths, book this session.

  • Intentional transitions: Starting a new job? Recently promoted? This session will help you transition roles with confidence and ease.

  • Problem-solving: If you need to make a big decision, prepare for a difficult conversation, or otherwise get “unstuck,” this is for you.

Cost: $500 per session

1:1 coaching packages

Build self-awareness, set bold goals, and step into your greatest power with our ongoing support.

You’ll meet with your coach for three months, so you have time to get clear on your wants and needs and start taking action. Our 1:1 coaching packages include:

  • A free intro session to explore your needs and make sure your coach is right for you

  • A discovery questionnaire to help you define your agenda and goals for the coaching process

  • 6 coaching sessions (50 minutes each), meeting every other week

  • Email access to your coach between sessions

  • Active Voice resources—like self-reflection exercises, tools for teams, and more—as needed

What clients are saying

"At my last review, my manager praised me for delegating and giving others the opportunity to step up and grow. This is the first time I've been recognized for doing less instead of more! Sara’s coaching helped me learn how to better prioritize, focus on the most impactful activities, and let go of custody of problems."

— Mariné Palamutyan,
UX research manager

There’s more to being a leader than climbing the ladder—and Sara Wachter-Boettcher knows that. She specializes in coaching for emerging and established tech and design leaders who want to build sustainable careers while staying true to their values.

More about coaching

How coaching helps

We all want to feel successful and do our best work. But so much gets in the way: self-doubt, old habits, difficult people, weird work dynamics. We can’t make life perfect, but we can figure out how to move forward anyway. That’s the power of coaching.

What you can accomplish

  • Set big, bold goals (and actually meet them)

  • Define a leadership style that’s true to your values

  • Show up with presence and influence at work

  • Overcome blockers and get unstuck

  • Quiet your inner critic and own your expertise

  • Learn to celebrate your progress and stay motivated

  • Listen to your gut and set strong, healthy boundaries

  • Unravel complex situations and make difficult choices

What to expect

Coaching is all about helping you face the hard stuff and find new ways forward. Expect lots of open-ended questions designed to explore root causes, open up fresh perspectives, and help you take action.

What coaching is

  • Confidential: Even if your company is paying, we won’t disclose anything you tell us—no matter what.

  • Non-judgmental: We don’t decide what you should do. We help you clarify your values and goals, make decisions that are true to them, and notice when you’re not.

  • Action-oriented: Each time we meet, we’ll celebrate your progress and work together to define what you’ll do next. Think of it as a healthy kick in the pants, just when you need it.

How coaching helps your company

  • You’ll grow your leadership skills and build trust. Coaching gives you new tools for communicating with clarity and confidence—whether you’re presenting to the C-suite, leading a standup, or facing a difficult conversation with a team member.

  • You’ll be better at sorting out the hard stuff. Coaching gives you a healthy place to talk through work feels—and figure out how to solve problems with honesty, compassion, and collaboration.

  • You’ll stay engaged and avoid burnout. Coaching helps you figure out what you need to feel fulfilled and connected at work, and establish healthy boundaries that keep you from getting overwhelmed, overworked, and running for a new job.
